Hello, I'm Lesley and I've worked in finance for over 30 years. Firstly, training as a chartered accountant with one of the biggest accountancy firms in the world, then working in financial modelling, creating budgets, forecasts, and management information for multinational companies including BNFL, H&M, and Bradford & Bingley. More recently, I've worked with SMEs as a finance manager where I've run every aspect of their finance department including building financial systems, creating management accounts and information packs for the board, rolling forecasts and budgets, preparing year-end statutory accounts, helping companies claim government grants, R&D tax credits and aiding them to raise equity finance. I've spent the last 8 years working with SME biotech businesses where I've run the finance department, setting one up from scratch and bringing the other in-house from bookkeepers, and have claimed nearly £1m of R&D tax credits for them.  I assisted with the listing of one of them on AIM, providing the forecasting required for the admissions document and working with advisers on the due diligence.
